About: The "Women in Big Science" event, intends to provide a platform where public organizations and industries operating in Big Science projects can share the experiences, lessons learned and best practices on policies to increase the participation of women. It will also offer the participants a framework for networking.
The event program foresees a Round Table, an Award on Best Practices and a Networking corner to exchange ideas.
The proposed activities will focus on successful models that promote the participation of women in the definition of innovation and technology policies, reinforce their role in decision-making processes and the value of women as knowledge holders and ultimately foster the multidisciplinary talent and diversity.
Which are the successful models to support inclusion? What are the actions needed? What are the available tools to foster gender balance in practice?
The Round Table will be the main part of the event. The five speakers, eminent European personalities in the promotion of gender equality in Industry, Science and Innovation, will discuss on successful models, concrete measures, tools and actions to foster women’s participation in Big Science and Innovation, for private and public organisations. The speakers will close the Round Table with the Award on Best Practices. The Award on Best Practices intends, by assigning “tokens of recognition” to companies or organizations, to acknowledge relevant achievements and to stimulate further efforts in the inclusion of Women in Big Science Projects.
Aspiring companies/organizations can showcase their policies through a Poster where they present the concrete measures to improve women inclusion already put in place in their area of business/research/projects/organisation. If you are interested in showcasing your policies to increase the participation of women in Big Science, you can submit your proposal by uploading a presentation, based on a template, in the BSBF2021 registration module at any time before the congress. The candidates will also be encouraged to provide a Poster in the networking area, reflecting those measures and/or associated impact.
Subsequently, the Round Table speakers will assess the different proposals and choose the most effective, successful ones and hand out the Award on Best Practices. The published award criteria will be based on the quantitative/qualitative impact of the implemented measures and their medium-long term sustainability.
The Networking corner will provide a forum to directly share experiences and gather knowledge on concrete successful models, available tools, among the participants and the speakers. It will be the excellent opportunity for the companies/organisations to exhibit their Posters, publicly promote their best practices and exchange ideas with other participants
